  • Promotional Offers

    From time to time The Folio Society runs promotions and offers on selected books. Qualifying offers will either be automatically applied to your order, or you will be instructed on how to redeem it via a voucher code – on your order form, at checkout on the website, or when you place your order by telephone. All of our promotional offers are subject to the following terms and conditions: 

    1. Offers are only valid on the products specified and cannot be used on sale or promotional items which are already discounted, unless otherwise stated.
    2. Offers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer unless otherwise stated.
    3. Offers are valid for a limited period of time, as specified in the marketing communication in print or on the website; they cannot be used outside of that period.
    4. Offers are not valid on limited editions (unless otherwise stated) or delivery charges.
    5. If you apply a voucher to an order which exceeds the value of that order, we cannot reimburse the difference.

    All orders are subject to stock availability and we reserve the right to withdraw, amend or extend offers at any time, without prior notice.

  • THE TOLKIEN COLLECTION INSTAGRAM GIVEAWAY

    We will never ask you to divulge personal details or ask you to click a link or pay a fee to claim your prize. Let us know if you see any suspicious activity related to this competition so that we can report it.

    Entrants must complete all instructions to enter the Instagram giveaway

    Entries must be entered before midnight Tuesday 8th April. Entries after this date will not counted.

    The giveaway winner will receive editions of The Hobbit, The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien

    The winner will be notified the day after closing on the social media platform used to enter the competition.

    If the winner does not claim the giveaway prize within 7 days of being notified, they forfeit the prize and a re-draw will take place.

    The winner is responsible for any additional taxes that occur during shipping.

    The prize cannot be exchanged for an alternative or cash prize.

    The Folio Society retains the right to a final decision in a dispute.

  • Birthday and Miss You Offer

    Terms and conditions apply. Offer excludes the purchase of limited editions, e-Gift cards and the cost of delivery. Cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion. Voucher valid online or by phone only. Minimum spend of £39.95 applies. One voucher per customer. Users must be logged in to use voucher code. Voucher valid for 30 days from date of issue.

  • Folio e-Gift Cards

    • Folio e-Gift Cards can only be purchased and redeemed from and with The Folio Society. Our books are not sold new by any other retailer.
    • E-Gift Cards from The Folio Society are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Any remaining balance will be cancelled after that time.
    • E-Gift cards can be purchased with a minimum value of £25/$50. E-Gift Cards have a maximum value of £200/$300.
    • E-Gift Cards may be purchased and redeemed through The Folio Society website, and also redeemed over the phone with our customer service agents and orders received by post.
    • The contact details of the Recipient will be used solely to email the e-Gift Card. The Recipient will not be otherwise contacted by Folio in any way unless they subsequently opt-in to marketing communications.
    • E-Gift Cards cannot be exchanged for cash.
    • E-Gift Cards must be redeemed in the Folio online store they were purchased in. For example, Folio e-Gift Cards purchased in The Folio Society’s UK online store can only be spent at www.foliosociety.com/uk, while those purchased in our USA store can only be redeemed at www.foliosociety.com/usa. All e-Gift Cards can be redeemed using the unique 25 character code included in the email.
    • It is the responsibility of the buyer that the e-Gift Card code is used by the intended recipient.
    • E-Gift Cards can be used for full payment and partial payment alongside one other method of payment (debit / credit card, PayPal, Apple / Google Pay). Multiple e-Gift Cards can be used at the same time as a method of payment.
    • Any existing balance on e-Gift Cards will remain until the card expiry date. You can check both the card's expiry date and remaining balance with the Gift Card Checker on our website, found either in your Account or at Basket and Checkout.
    • E-Gift Cards are non-refundable.
    • Refunds for purchases made with an e-Gift Card and returned to The Folio Society will be placed back onto a new e-Gift Card.
    • The Folio Society is unable to refund lost, stolen or damaged e-Gift Cards.
    • E-Gift Cards cannot be used towards the purchase of e-Gift Cards.
    • We reserve the right to refuse to accept an e-Gift Card which we deem to be tampered with, duplicated or which otherwise is suspected to be affected by fraud.
    • We reserve the right to amend the e-Gift Card terms and conditions from time to time, where we consider it reasonable and necessary to do so.

The Folio Literary Quiz
  • The Friday quiz closes each week at 18.00 (UK Time) on Thursday of the following week.
  • Only one entry per person. Multiple entries will be disqualified.
  • There is one prize of a £20/$35/$45 Folio voucher for the winner of each quiz.
  • The winner will be drawn by The Folio Society using a computer programme to randomly generate a winner from the entries who have answered all the questions correctly.
  • The winner will be notified the day after closing by the email address they specified when they entered the Quiz. Only the winner will be notified.
  • If the winner does not claim the prize within 30 days of being notified, they will forfeit the prize and a re-draw will take place. To claim the prize, the winner must follow the instructions in the email. The winner’s Folio voucher will be sent to them via email.
  • The winner is responsible for paying income tax (if any) due on the prize.
  • If entering with a company email address, entrants confirm that they have the permission of the organisation to enter.
  • There is no cash alternative to the Folio voucher.
  • Staff of the Folio Society and their family members are not eligible to enter the Quiz.
  • In the event of any dispute, The Folio Society’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

  • How do I return a Folio book?

    If for any reason a book does not meet your expectations, you may return it to us within 4 weeks and we will arrange for an exchange or refund (excluding postage). Please enclose a note explaining the reason for the return along with your name, address and your customer number. When returning a parcel to us we recommend you obtain proof of postage.

  • Service promise

    We are extremely proud of our books. We make every effort to describe them accurately and produce them to the highest possible standards. In the unlikely event that a book you receive is imperfect or damaged in transit, please contact our customer service team immediately. We will always provide a replacement, or when necessary, a full refund of the price paid.

Standard Delivery

Postage will be charged at a flat rate for one title, or for two or more titles, regardless of the number of volumes.

Standard charges exclude limited editions and some selected larger and heavier titles.

Please note that limited editions will be shipped separately and we are unable to deliver to PO Box addresses as a signature is required.

 

Your parcel will be delivered by either Royal Mail or our courier DX. Tracking information and full delivery options will be confirmed in an email from the carrier. Please allow 5 to 7 days for delivery.

Please note that we are not able to group together more than one order in a single despatch, even if the orders are sent out separately.

Deliveries on all orders are Monday to Friday only.

*Limited Editions

On limited editions and other large and heavy items or books of high value, postage charges vary. The postage charge that applies will be itemised in your basket. Each limited edition is sent separately from standard book orders. For further information please contact customer service.

We are unable to deliver limited edition orders to PO Box addresses as a signature is required.

Express Delivery

For an additional £4, orders placed before midday will be delivered by DPD the next working day. Please note, DPD do not deliver over the weekend, so orders placed after midday Friday will be delivered on the following Tuesday. Tracking information and full delivery options will be confirmed in an email from the carrier. (Some postcode exceptions apply, and deliveries may take longer – please see below for details). 

Express delivery to the following postcodes will take 2 working days, e.g. orders placed at 10am on Monday will be delivered on Wednesday.

How do I return a Folio book?
