  1. Sinéad O'Callaghan, Fiction Editor, The Folio Society

Robert Harris’s effortless writing style and immersive approach to research firmly places him as one of the great modern exponents of historical fiction. Provoking and subversive, Fatherland confronts a dark history that the world escaped, magnifying the horrors of history that mirror the current flux of global communities today. When a prominent Nazi official is murdered, Xavier March is sent to investigate. All clues for motive lead back to the Wannsee Conference. But what happened here? And why are Nazis being murdered within their own ranks? Together with an American journalist, March reveals a terrible secret, one which could change history and rewrite the course of the world forever.
