  • Who are we?

    The Folio Society are publishers of beautiful, illustrated editions of the world's greatest books. For over 65 years, we have created books that are outstanding in both their literary content and physical form. Our dedication to the art of fine book publishing guarantees the highest quality of production for every unique Folio edition.

  • Where are we based?

    Our office and Book Shop can be found on Eagle Street in London, on the fringes of Bloomsbury – a suitably literary address – a stone’s throw from William Morris’s former home in Red Lion Square and within easy walking distance of the British Museum and British Library.

  • What makes Folio books special?

    From our first books in 1947 we have made it our goal to furnish readers with beautiful and authoritative editions of great literary works.

    The Folio Society brings together a worldwide community of booklovers who appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of fine editions. We have long been a haven for the eclectic and open-minded reader, providing a real depth both within and across genres.

    Our non-fiction list ranges from the seminal ideas of Charles Darwin to the hard-nosed historical analysis of Martin Gilbert and the remarkable insights of Mary Beard’s Pompeii; whilst our fiction spans the wit of Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the intoxicating science fiction of Frank Herbert’s Dune and the wit and whimsy of Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows.

  • What are your opening hours?

    The Folio Society Book Shop is open from 10am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.

    Our dedicated customer service team are available to take your calls, orders and answer your emails between 9am – 5pm on weekdays.

    Our north American telephone team are also based here in the UK (don't worry though, calls are toll free). You can reach them between 8am – 5pm Eastern Standard Time.

  • How can I contact you?

Placing an order

  • How do I order online?

    Add a book to your basket and then view its contents by clicking on the icon on the top right of the page. You can then start the checkout process by viewing the full basket and proceeding to the secure checkout.

  • I am having trouble with my order. Can someone help?

    If you encounter any difficulties while placing an order - perhaps you can't find the book you're looking for - please contact us by e-mail or phone during customer service hours. Our dedicated Customer Services Team will be delighted to answer any questions you may have. Orders can also be placed over the phone.

    Credit card details should only be entered via our secure website or given via the telephone to one of our customer service team. Please do not supply us with your credit or debit card details via email.

  • How do I edit my personal details online?

Payments and Discounts

Shipping, Delivery and Returns

  • What are your delivery times?

    Please note, the last order date for delivery in time for Christmas is 9 December, 11:59pm (EST).

    Please allow up to 28 days for delivery of any current publication as all our books are currently shipped from the UK. Books not yet published will be separately despatched as soon as they are available.

  • What is the delivery cost?

    Shipping is capped at $10.00 for despatches of 1 or more books on your first purchase.

    On limited editions and other large and heavy items or books of high value, postage charges vary. The postage charge that applies will be itemised in your basket. These items are usually sent separately from standard book orders. For further information please contact customer service.

    Please note we are unable to group together more than one order in a single despatch, even if the orders are placed on the same day

  • Can I expedite a delivery?

    Please note the last order date for express delivery is available until 14 December, 11:59pm (EST).

    For an additional $20, orders despatched to the USA are eligible for express delivery. This option can be selected during the checkout process. Please allow 3 to 7 days for express delivery from the UK.

  • Can you send my books to a different delivery address?

    Your books can be sent to a different delivery address at no additional cost. Please enter your desired delivery address during the checkout process. This can only be done online if the address you are sending to is in the same country as you are.

    If you would like to send books as a gift to someone in a country other than your own, please contact our customer service team who will be happy to help.

  • What should I do if my books are damaged?

    If you are at all concerned about your delivery, or have any further questions, please feel free to contact us here.

  • What is your returns policy?

    We are extremely proud of our books. We make every effort to describe them accurately and produce them to the highest possible standards.

    If for any reason a book does not meet your expectations, you may return it to us within four weeks and we will arrange for an exchange or refund (excluding postage). Please enclose a note explaining the reason for the return along with your name, address and your membership or customer number. When returning a parcel to us we recommend you obtain proof of posting.

  • What is your Limited Editions returns policy?

    Because of the unique nature of our Limited Edition products, special measures may be necessary when organising replacements or returns. If you experience any difficulties with your order please contact or call us on +1 866-255-8280 (toll-free)


  • Do I have to be a member to buy books?

    You do not have to be a member to buy Folio books.

  • What are the advantages of taking up membership?

    Members’ Launch Prices – Exclusive savings on all newly published and back-in-print books.
    CAPPED Shipping – Shipping is now capped for members on any single order of three or more books. Members will never pay more than $20 for US shipping when ordering standard Folio books.***

  • How do I become a member?

    To qualify as a Folio member you need to buy four or more books*** within a 12-month period. Your membership begins on the date you place your qualifying order and you will be able to access member benefits online or by phone within 72 hours of qualifying.

    A Folio membership card will be sent to you by post within two weeks of qualifying (please allow up to 6 weeks for delivery in overseas territories). Your membership will then run for 12 calendar months from the date your card is issued.

  • How long will my membership last?

    Folio membership runs for 12 months from the date you qualified. If you buy another four or more books during your initial membership period you will be awarded a further 12 months of membership. Your new year of membership begins on the date that your initial membership expires.
