In this masterful thriller we are transported to the last days of Pompeii, as Mount Vesuvius shakes the very foundations of the Roman Empire.

Told through the eyes of four characters – an aqueduct engineer, an adolescent girl, a corrupt millionaire and an elderly scientist – Pompeii is a fascinating work of historical fiction and a nail-biting thriller.

Folio has teamed up with series artist Robert Carter to create the very first illustrated edition of the novel. With a spectacular binding that depicts the mighty eruption and six full-colour illustrations, this is an enviable edition for Robert Harris fans to add to their collection.

  1. New York Times Book Review

In the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, the citizens of a bustling Roman town are oblivious to impending disaster. As tremors rattle the ground and a mysterious water shortage stirs unease, an engineer races against time to uncover the cause of the disturbance. But the mountain is waking, and when it erupts, fire and ash will seal Pompeii’s fate forever.

Robert Harris masterfully recreates the final days of this doomed city, weaving suspense, historical detail and human drama into a thrilling narrative where the prospect of survival is as fleeting as the crumbling walls. Pompeii isn’t just a story – it is a gripping reminder of nature’s terrifying power.
