This Folio Life: 5 Incredible Things About The Hulk

Marvel legend Roy Thomas and John Cimino share five things you may not know about this green-skinned goliath …

The Hulk was originally grey

He was grey in his first appearance in The Incredible Hulk #1. He only became green in #2. Stan Lee decided the grey was just too murky and unexciting. Hulk had been coloured green in one panel in #1 (for effect) and it was decided that this was the way to go.

The Hulk’s level strength increases proportionally with his anger and is limitless!

The Hulk is a raging-mad, tireless, engine of mass-destruction that grows more powerful exponentially in geometric proportion to his virtually limitless well of anger. He possesses the potential for vast levels of superhuman strength ranging beyond the limits of any other known humanoid being. In Secret Wars II #8, the omnipotent Beyonder, scanned the Hulk's essence and discovered that there was literally no limit to the Hulk's power. Besides great strength, his durability, healing, endurance, and possibly speed also increase in relation to his anger levels. He can maintain this peak output for hours on end and continue to grow even more powerful as his adrenaline levels continue to increase with no apparent limit.

The Hulk is stronger than Superman, the Celestials, Wolverine and even time!

In The Incredible Hulk vs Superman #1: the Hulk breaks free from Superman's bear hug and the result sends the Man of Steel into deep space.

In The Incredible Hulk #243, he tears apart a citadel built to withstand the Celestials. The Hulk has been able to break, crack or bend Marvel's strongest metal Adamantium on many occasions, including ripping Ultimate Wolverine apart in Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk #1. In The Incredible Hulk #135, he punches a time-storm so hard that he makes it go to the past. That’s right, even time itself can’t stand up to the Hulk’s fists. BOOM!!

The Hulk beat up Hulk Hogan

In Marvel Comics Presents #45, the Hulk as ‘Mr. Fixit’ fought WWF wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan and beat him to a pulp in a wrestling ring to show everybody else that no one should steal the Hulk's name.
