Editor's Notes

What happens when a unicorn realises she is the last on earth? Where have the others gone? So begins one of the most charming and beautiful fantasy stories ever. Working with the author and illustrator on this has produced a marvellous edition of one of the best-loved and certainly most charming fantasy novels of all time.
Synopsis

In a poignant tale of memory, mortality and myth, the last unicorn begins a quest to uncover the truth about her lost kin. In an epic journey of harrowing danger and immense love, she picks up a ragtag band of companions including Schmendrick, a hapless magician, and the kind-hearted but world-weary Molly Grue, before finally confronting the tyrannical King Haggard and his terrifying Red Bull. But should she fail, then unicorns will be lost - forever. Told in prose that shimmers with lyricism and melancholy, Beagle's work endures as a masterpiece of twentieth-century fantasy literature.
