A Society of Booklovers

Run by booklovers, for booklovers, we keep our members at the heart of everything we do, whether it’s searching for bargains from other publishers or sponsoring literary events we believe our members would enjoy.

Our members stay with us year after year, introduce friends and family, and stay in close contact (to let us know when we get it right, and where we’ve gone wrong!).

The Members' Room

Magazine

We keep in touch several times a year to let you know what’s happening in the Society.

Our magazine contains a series of articles commissioned from leading lights in the literary and academic worlds. In recent issues, Lynne Truss, author of Eats, Shoots & Leaves, wrote about the importance of understanding our linguistic history, while Fergus Fleming, author of several travel books, discussed the ‘Holy Grail of exploration’, the desperate search for a shortcut to the Orient through the Arctic seas.

Member events and parties

We often sponsor literary events at festivals around Great Britain and we are also often connected with events in the US, Canada and Australia, although our location in London makes it harder for us to attend in person. Members are always very welcome to attend these and we also organise parties from time to time to celebrate a specific launch or exhibition.
