The Folio Society at the Frankfurt Book Fair

A Folio first as we join over 7,000 exhibitors at the world's largest book fair

For five days from 14 October, more than 7,300 exhibitors from 100 countries and nearly 300,000 visitors made their way to the world's largest book fair, in Frankfurt, Germany. Opened by Chancellor Angela Merkel, the fair is considered the most important marketplace for books, media, rights and licences in the world. And this year, Folio participated for the first time as an exhibitor.

The exhibition is open to both trade and members of the public. A wide range of our books were on display, including many of our limited editions. It was very gratifying to hear first hand how impressed people are with our books, especially those from non-English-speaking countries who are not necessarily familiar with them. One Italian gentleman was overheard saying that our edition of The Roman Revolution by Ronald Syme was 'the most beautiful book at the entire fair'. High praise indeed! We are hoping to make a return visit to Frankfurt next year.
