Kelmscott Chaucer at the William Morris Gallery

Folio facsimile on display alongside original

A copy of the Folio Society facsimile edition of the Kelmscott Chaucer has gone on display at the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, north-east London, where an original edition is held.

The Kelmscott Chaucer was the culmination of William Morris’s career and took four years to complete. Unquestionably one of the finest books to come out of the Private Press movement, it is also one of the most beautiful and collectable books ever created.

According to the Gallery: ‘The Folio Society has generously donated a Kelmscott Press Chaucer Fine Edition to the Gallery. This facsimile copy of “the most beautiful of all printed books” can be opened and read during a visit to the Gallery.
