John le Carré season on BBC Radio 4

Karla trilogy begins with Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

A major dramatisation of John le Carré’s ‘Karla Trilogy’, starring Simon Russell Beale (pictured right) as George Smiley, is being broadcast on Radio 4. The first episode of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was broadcast on Sunday 29 November and will continue on 6 and 13 December. It will be followed by The Honourable Schoolboy in January and Smiley’s People in April next year.

Jeremy Howe, Radio 4's Commissioning Editor for Drama, says, ‘Smiley is one of the great characters of 20th-century fiction and the way he threads, weaves, ducks and dives his way through the complexities of the Cold War has given us some of the century's most enthralling stories.’
