"I have been a long time fan of Roald Dahl but had never read any of his adult works. These stories are weird, quirky, disturbing, and sometimes bland, but more imaginative than many other authors are capable of. This book is something a bit extra special cover wise. The imitation snakeskin is very different, and though it doesn't feel much like snakeskin to me, it does look good and feel nice to touch nonetheless. The illustrations in this book are as strange and quirky as the stories themselves, and match the text brilliantly. Can't really say much more than that. The writing is a bit on the small side for me. There is a lot of content here though and it seems to be a bit of a necessity to avoid an unweildly cumbersome book. The writing is in an easy to read font though and is still very readable, though I found myself struggling after a while as my eyes strained. Don't let this put you off though as this book is a true jewel and well worth every penny. Buying all four paperbacks separately is only a couple pounds cheaper so splash out and get this excellent edition. A bargain." [hide full review]
