Louis XIV’s colourful and calculating court provides the setting for their last adventure, the rescue of Philippe, the King’s twin brother. Alexandre Dumas was one of the most fêted authors of 19th-century France, and his books are still among the best-loved and thrilling adventures ever written.

"These books were books that i avoided for years in my younger days as i always disliked the idea of classics and hated the ones we were made to read at school.When i was laid up with a leg injury the only book handy was The Three Musketeers and i was astonished at how good it was.When Folio produced this set a few years ago i bought it and also the Count of Monte Christo and i have to say i have seldom enjoyed Folio books more,they are quite simply,wonderful.Great fun, very exciting and although the French names can be slightly hard to get to grips with,very easy to read.Reading these and Cristo cured me of me predudice against Classics and i have gone on to read many others,some good some bad but these were the start and i love them,they are brilliant."
